Stats

We got Ivy measured today. She weighs 16 and 1/2 pounds, and is 26 inches long. She's gone up on the charts for her weight (close to the 50th percentile), but has gone down on the charts for her length. Meaning, she's not as tall and skinny as she was for awhile! Actually, her length today was recorded as 1/2 inch shorter than it was a month ago - meaning she must have shrunk! Ha, not really. Apparently it's hard to get babies to stay still long enough to measure them, so the measurements aren't always that accurate.

Ivy also got her flu shot today and got her finger pricked for some bloodwork. Is there not a better way to take blood from babies than pricking them and then squeezing their finger mercilessly? She did NOT appreciate the finger prick. And since we have quit the pacifier, I didn't have any way to calm her down.

Yep, that's right, we quit the pacifier. Out of desperation for sleep at night. We had tried quitting the pacifier at night, but had continued giving it to her during the day. But her sleep has just been horrendous, waking us up 5-6 times at night. Her doctor suggested we try giving up the pacifier during the day as well, to see if she could learn to soothe herself. So, we are trying it. So far, the nights have gone well. But, that is how it has gone the other two times we did sleep training. She'd do great for about a week or so, and then it would all go downhill. But, we are hopeful this time!

Yes, sometimes I put a hat on her in the house because it's cold and we can't afford to keep the heater running at all times!


We took this picture because at the time she was really tired and was just standing completely still in the jumper with this spacey look on her face. But as soon as Adam got the camera out, she flashed us a smile :)
